Jhajjar district, which is part of the Rohtak parliamentary constituency, has beaten Rohtak district in terms of candidates in the fray for the Lok Sabha elections. Four of the five prominent political parties have selected their nominees from Jhajjar district.

Sitting MP and Congress nominee Deepender Singh Hooda is the lone candidate who belongs to Rohtak district while contestants declared by the BJP, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), Indian National Lokdal (INLD) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) hail from Jhajjar district.

The BJP nominee and former MP Arvind Sharma is the resident of MP Majra under the Badli Assembly segment in Jhajjar and the JJP has fielded student leader Pradeep Deswal, who belongs to Jassaur Kheri village under the Bahadurgarh Assembly segment, while the BSP-LSP candidate Kishan Lal Panchal belongs to Rohad village, which is also part of Jhajjar district.

The INLD has declared Dharambir Fouzi as its nominee for Rohtak seat. Though Dharambir’s native Ritoli village is located in Rohtak district but he has been residing at Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district for the past 35 years. Dharambir (55) is the senior vice-president of the Sainik Prakoshth (cell) of the INLD.

None of the candidates have so far filed their nomination. Though the BSP-LSP coalition candidate Kishan Lal Panchal came to the office of the Returning Officer (RO) on Saturday to file his nomination, he had to go back due to his incomplete nomination form. He will file his papers tomorrow.

Deepender Hooda and Arvind Sharma will also file their nomination on April 22. The Congress has decided to take out an impressive roadshow on that day while the BJP would hold a massive public meeting at the local ITI ground before the nomination to show their strength.
