Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain on Sunday said that saint Kabir Dass was a true social reformer who opposed false rituals and narrow thinking of the people during the medieval era.

Paying rich tributes during a programme organised on the 621st jayanti of Kabir at Baba Moni Dass Ashram on the outskirts of the town, she said Kabir devoted his life in demolishing the walls of caste and in preaching social brotherhood.

“Sant Kabir Dass continued weaving clothes throughout his life and preached against the exploitation of the poor in the name of religion and law by the people in power,” she said. She added that his teachings were still relevant.

Rajiv Jain, Media Adviser to Haryana Chief Minister, also paid tributes to Kabir at another programme in Kalupur village saying that saints were the assets of the entire society, not of a caste or a sect.
