Congress candidate from Kangra Lok Saba seat Pawan Kajal today expressed his displeasure over the poll campaign carried by the BJP which he said was dividing the nation on the basis of religion, caste and region for its political interests saying this was unfortunate as it was against the basic democratic values.

Pawan Kajal was addressing public meetings at Basnoor and Ansooie villages of Shahpur Assembly segment today. He suggested that elections must be contested on ideology and development plans and contribution. He alleged that the BJP was misleading the people on the basis of religion, caste and region, weakening the foundation of democracy in the country. He was critical of BJP state Chief Sat Pal Satti for allegedly speaking against the religious and social organization Radha Swami which he said has hurt him personally. He alleged that by such utterances the BJP state chief had exposed himself in front of the people.

Kajal said that the people of Chamba have shown their support, sympathy and love for him. He said when he asked the people of Chamba to name five achievements of Shanta Kumar during the last five years of his being MP Lok Sabha, they failed to point out even a single work done by him. He lambasted the state government for being in nexus with cement companies saying that, as a result, cement was costlier in the state.

Kewal Singh Pathania, HPCC general secretary, said that Pawan Kajal was young, dynamic and dedicated Congress candidate and hence had been nominated for Kangra, politically the most vibrant constituency. He said that Congress, if voted to power, will wave loans of farmers. Unemployed youths will be provided jobs as promised in the Congress manifesto.
