Jammu, September 9

There was a huge turnout of youth at an Army recruitment rally at Reasi. Over 29,000 youth from the hilly and remote areas of Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Ramban and Reasi turned up for the recruitment rally that was held from September 3 to 9 at the Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) of the J&K Police at Talwara, Reasi.

The notification for this recruitment drive was issued around three months ago, but the last date for the online registration was extended till August 23. The extension was placed to avoid inconveniences to aspiring candidates owing to curbs and restrictions placed on Internet and other channels of communication post August 5. The registration kept flooding till the last date and over 29,000 aspiring youths from J&K registered themselves.

The candidates were screened for their physical fitness, medical examination and documentation at the rally site and successful candidates will undergo written test on October 26. Selected candidates will be inducted into various arms and services of the Army.

“It was a passion, dream and goal since my childhood to join the Armed forces. That’s the reason I am here,” said a candidate.

The rally has been a huge success in terms of the willingness seen amongst the candidates, who turned up in large numbers from remotest parts of the region after abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A. The youth aged between 17 and 23 years reached the selection venue in huge numbers.

The drive will provide employment to the youth of the region who are looking forward to a secure future. The recruitment rally received an overwhelming response from the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and support from the civil administration for the smooth conduct of the event. The youth thanked the Army for its initiative for youth employment.
