Deliver quality education to students, teachers told

Addressing students and teachers at a function organised by Shri Ram Krishan Sewa Sangh in DAVIET on Sunday, Education Minister OP Soni said, “Instead of staging protest marches, teachers should engage themselves in delivering quality education to students in schools. Their absence from the schools is affecting the education of students.”

On regularising the services of contractual teachers, he said the government was determined on its decision and the teachers hired under the SSS/ RAMSA would only be regularised if they comply with the policies of the government.

Besides, he said more than 4,000 teachers had accepted appointment letters under the new regularisation policy.

The Education Minister said the government was ready to accept all justified demands of members of teachers’ unions, who are observing a strike. So, they should inculcate the qualities of hard work, discipline and leadership in students so that they could perform well in their grades, he added.

“The graph of education has gone down in Punjab so the government is now focusing on imparting quality education to the students at each government schools. In this regard, Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has especially ordered the Finance Department to ensure a hike in the Budget of the Education Department,” Soni added. — TNS
