Nomination process for Lok Sabha polls begins today

JALANDHAR: Filing of nominations for the Lok Sabha polls is going to start from tomorrow in the district. The nominations for the General Elections would be received by the Deputy Commissioner who is also the District Election Officer in his court from 11 am to 3 pm.

Filing of nominations for the Lok Sabha polls is going to start from tomorrow in the district.

The nominations for the General Elections would be received by the Deputy Commissioner who is also the District Election Officer in his court from 11 am to 3 pm. In the absence of the Deputy Commissioner, the nominations would be received by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Jalandhar II, Paramveer Singh.

As per the Model Code of Conduct, only five persons, including the candidate, would be allowed to enter the place where the nominations for the polls would be filed by the candidates. In order to ensure complete transparency in the filing of nominations, the entire process would be videographed. Likewise, adequate number of CCTV cameras have been installed in the District Administrative Complex to keep a strict vigil during the filing of nominations.

Meanwhile, in a landmark decision, the entire information submitted by the candidate during the nomination would be accessible to the people minutes after the filing of papers by him. The staff of the District Election Office would upload the information submitted by the candidates and within minutes, the people will be able to access it on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab.

Precautions taken
