The police claimed to have recovered 42 cases of illegal liquor and arrested one person in this connection. The accused was identified as Sarbveer Singh, a resident of Mundian village, near Ludhiana.
Giving information about the arrest it in a statement, the Khanna SSP, NS Mahal, said a police party from the town led by ASI Avtar Singh was on patrol in the area when they got a tip off about carrying of illegal liquor in a vehicle.
The police party laid a naka near Bulepur village. Officials manning the naka spotted a Qualis coming from Mandi Gobindgarh side. During search 42 boxes of liquor, which include 23 cases of Doller Rum and 19 of Macdowell whisky, were recovered from the vehicle.
