Ludhiana: Jeeve Punjab, a folk music and singing concert, will be organised at Guru Nanak Bhawan from 6 pm to 9 pm on Saturday. Noted poet and patron of Jeeve Punjab Jaswant Singh Zaffar said glimpses of richness of Punjabi heritage would be visible through folk songs, literature, folk art and folk musical instruments in the programme. Eight singers - Beer Singh Randhawa, Manpreet Singh, Tanvir Sandhu, Arpan Sandhu, Gurman Birdi, Prabh Ubhi, Aman Dhaliwal and Gagan Balra - would bring alive the folk magic of Punjab. He said the programme would be dedicated to rejuvenation of the Buddha Dariya to its sanctity. TNS

Effigies of SAD leaders burnt

Khamano: The effigies of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders were burnt on the eve of Dasehra by workers of the Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by block president Sukhdev Singh. The Akali Dal (Amritsar) leaders assembled at the main chowk, Khamano, and burnt the effigies of SAD leaders, including former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, Bikramjit Singh Majithia and Dera head Ram Rahim. The workers also raised slogans against them and termed the above said leaders responsible for sacrilege incidents. They also demanded action against them and others involved in these incidents. OC
