Amritsar, July 29

The state government’s probe into the Bargari sacrilege incidents was designed to gain political benefits and the drug menace in the state prospered under the patronage of the existing political-police nexus.

This was stated by SAD president and MP Sukhbir Singh Badal, who along with his wife Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, was here to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple today.

Launching an attack on the Congress regime, he said the CBI’s closure report had belied the investigation conducted by the state government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) in sacrilege incidents.

Targeting IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, member of the SIT, he said the IG acted what suited to his political bosses.

He felt pity on former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, while saying that the latter has lost a golden chance to prove that he is dedicated to Amritsar.
