45.6-mm rainfall in Chandigarh, highest this month

Chandigarh, September 16

The city on Thursday recorded 45.6 mm of rainfall, the highest this month so far. According to the Meteorological Department, it started raining in the city around 6.05 pm. In an hour and a half, 40.6 mm of rainfall was witnessed. Power supply was hit in several areas after electricity poles and trees were damaged due to the rain, said an official. Many areas, including Sector 16, 21, 25 and 30, remained without power for five hours. A resident of Sector 30 said there was no power in the locality from 5.30 pm to 11.10 pm.
