5 more deaths, Mohali toll 57

Five deaths, 117 fresh cases and 106 recoveries were reported from Mohali district today. A 56-year-old man from Dera Bassi, a 70-year-old woman from Mauli Baidwan and a 65-year-old man from Baltana lost their life due to Covid-19 and multiple comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension. A 30-year-old Mataur resident, suffering from cancer, and a 34-year-old man from Sector 68, Mohali, were the other fatalities reported from the district.

Most of the cases were reported from Mohali city (40), Kharar (30), Dera Bassi (three), Zirakpur (13), Boothgarh block (seven), Banur (five), Gharuan (15) and Lalru (four).

The district has so far witnessed 2,819 cases. As many as 1,247 cases are active, while 1,515 patients have been discharged. The death toll in the district has reached 57. Yesterday, four deaths, 141 cases and 98 recoveries were reported.
