The Mohali administration has reimposed night curfew (11 pm to 5 am) in the district from March 12 until further orders.

Those working in night shifts will not be barred from coming and going for work. During this time, production and construction activities will be allowed in factories, said Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan. He said traffic on national and state highways would be allowed.

The curfew has been imposed to restrict the movement of individuals from 11 pm to 5 am for non-essential activities.

Not more than 100 persons will be allowed under the roof for public functions and 200 persons in open venues for social, religious, cultural, academic, sports, recreational and other such gatherings.

Police and Army personnel, officials on government duty, essential services and medical emergency services have been exempted from the curfew though no pass will be issued for the purpose.

Yesterday, 14 teachers and seven students of a dental college in Dera Bassi were found positive for Covid. The college has been closed for now.

“The level-1 Covid care centre in Gharuan, which was closed, will be restarted. The police will launch a drive to ensure limit on social gatherings is adhered to. Violators will be challaned and FIRs will be registered in such cases,” said the Deputy Commissioner.
