Mangalsutra snatched

An Activa-borne miscreant snatched a mangalsutra from a woman in Sector 38 here this evening. The victim was returning home after picking up her child from a private school.

The victim, identified as Moni a resident of Sector 38, had gone to pick up her child from the school. While she was returning home with her child, the suspect, who was riding a white Activa, snatched her mangalsutra. The victim tried to chase the suspect. However, he managed to escape from the spot.

Sources said the suspect was wearing a helmet. The victim raised an alarm following which people gathered at the spot.

The police were informed about the incident following which they rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. “We are scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area to identify the suspect,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Sector 39 police station.
