Son of retired UT police inspector held in Fazilka sisters'' murder case

CHANDIGARH: The son of a retired UT police inspector was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of two sisters in Sector 22 here on Thursday.

The son of a retired UT police inspector was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of two sisters in Sector 22 here on Thursday.

Identified as 30-year-old Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Shivalik Vihar, Zirakpur, he was nabbed from the New Delhi railway station.

The two sisters, who had rented a place, were found murdered on Thursday afternoon. They had been living in the house for three years. Sharp-edged weapons were used in the crime, police said.

The victims were identified as Manpreet Kaur and Rajwant Kaur, natives of Fazilka district in Punjab. The two worked at a chemical factory in Zirakpur.

UT SSP Nilambari Jagdale who had reached the crime spot had said that the accused used both sharp and blunt weapons to murder the sisters.

Yesterday, a police team was patrolling in Sector 22 where a person namely Satwinder Singh along with another person told them that something untoward may have happened at a house as the door was locked from outside.  

The police team reached the house and in the presence the owner broke open the lock by using a hammer and saw two girls lying in a pool of blood.

Shashi Bala, who is also residing in the same house, gave the statement regarding the incident, on which an FIR was registered.

She stated that she used to wake up early in the morning as she had to supply tiffin to her customers.

Yesterday, at about 4-5 am, she heard crying and loud noises coming from the top floor room where the two sisters were residing.

When she reached on the top floor, she found the door was open where she saw a boy but said the boy told her to go back.

Thereafter, she came to her room on the first floor. After some time, she saw that boy was going downstairs with long steps along with a bag on his back.

She stated that the said boy often used to visit the house to meet these girls. She further stated that both the girls were murdered by that boy.

During the course of investigation, the crime spot was inspected by local police as well as CFSL team, CCTV footages of vicinity were procured and mobile data verified.
