In a crackdown on consumption of liquor at public places, the Ranjit Avenue police have arrested seven persons in this connection. In a statement, the police said different teams visited parts of posh Ranjit Avenue area especially eating joints serving non-veg dishes and nabbed seven persons for drinking in their cars at public places. They appealed the people not to indulge in illegal practice and it would invite legal problems for the offenders. Ranjit Avenue and Majitha road areas were two most favored destinations among people enjoying drinking on roadsides. Ranjit Avenue area has witnessed many instances of brawls that took ugly turn thereby creating law and order problem. However, the menace continued unabated.
