AMRITSAR: A delegation of 18 students from England, having Punjab roots, visited the Partition Museum, under a programme titled ‘Connect with your roots’ of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday.

A delegation of 18 students from England, having Punjab roots, visited the Partition Museum, under a programme titled ‘Connect with your roots’ of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday.

The aim of the programme is to connect youngsters with their roots who have been living abroad. The students got a chance to have an insight into the situation of the country during Partition.

The students were accompanied by their coordinator Varinder Singh. He said, “As per the vision of Capt Amarinder Singh, students having roots in Punjab will be acquainted with the culture of the state. A group of 18 students has come. It is a great initiative. This gives each one of them a chance to establish a connection and understand their own cultural values in a profound way.”

The group consisted of Varinder Singh, Surinder Kaur, Karan Khera, Harleen Khera, Sareena Jassal, Josan Dosanjh, Gurjeet Singh, Simran Lal among others.

The group consists of children irrespective of their religion but their association with Punjab. Students will be visiting in batches from across the world. The group was accompanied by Tourism Officer Gursharan Singh. He said, “The students are thrilled. They have asked us to arrange a visit to Golden Temple. We shall also be taking them to Attari-Wagah border to witness the Beating Retreat ceremony.”
