Nuh police have booked Salaheri resident Irshad Pradhan for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through a viral video.

Tension had erupted in Mewat area after a video went viral showing Pradhan declaring reward of Rs 2 crore for slashing ex-BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s tongue. The video which went viral on social media showed him speaking to a YouTuber offering reward on behalf of entire Mewat.

“Get her tongue and take two crores. You do it journalist and take money right now,” he was seen saying pompously.

“We have identified the accused and booked him. Action will be taken as per the law. The social media cell too has been pressed in action to ensure no such instigating content is supported or circulated in district,” said Nuh SP Varun Singla.

“We appeal people to not spread such videos and communal content,” added Singla.

Former BJP leader Nupur Sharma had run into controversy over her remarks on Prophet Mohammad. Ever since the controversy is brewing, with two murders being reported in the country after the deceased supported her online. Nuh police have pressed its units in action to keep any communal tension in check.

Police said an FIR has been registered against Irshad and others under various sections of IPC at City Nuh police station. The main accused Irshad not only saying on video but later also uploaded the same on his Facebook page. Police teams are conducting raids to nab him, a senior police officer said.
