A high-voltage drama was witnessed here today during the inauguration of a car parking constructed by the local Municipal Council (MC) at a cost of about Rs 4 crore. Local Congress MLA Ajay Solanki was slated to inaugurate the parking on February 25 but BJP-supported MC president Shyama Pundir inaugurated it.

Shyama Pundir along with BJP-supported councillors reached the venue this morning and inaugurated the parking. BJP district president Vinay Gupta and other party workers were also present on the occasion. On receiving information, Congress-supported councillors along with police officials also reached there and removed the inauguration plaque.
Shyama said that the MC had built a multi-storey parking at Nahan at a cost of about Rs 4 crore. To overcome the problem in the town, she inaugurated the new parking lot that could accommodate about 180 vehicles.
Congress-supported councillor Rakesh Garg, however, said that the MC president had sent a proposal for the inauguration of the parking to the Executive Officer (EO), who had forwarded it to the higher authorities. It was decided that the local MLA would inaugurate the parking but the MC president along with BJP-supported councillors inaugurated it.
MC Executive Officer Sanjay Tomar said that he had received two proposals regarding the inauguration of the parking from the MLA and the MC president. Both proposals were sent to the Director Urban Development, who gave instructions on February 20 that the MLA would inaugurate the parking, he added.
Tomar said that he received information that Shyama had inaugurated the parking and reached the spot. He removed the inauguration plaque with the help of the police in the presence of Congress-backed members. He added that as per the instructions, the MLA would inaugurate it on February 25.
