Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Congress remembered farmers, villagers and the poor only before elections and was anti-tribals.

Addressing a public meeting in ST-dominated Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh, the PM said the BJP would win 370 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections and the ruling coalition more than 400 seats.

“Conscious of a looming loss, the Congress and allies are resorting to last-ditch tactics...the Congress motto is loot and divide,” the PM said, adding that the Congress and other opposition leaders abused him because he was working for the betterment of tribals and the poor.

“The Congress, when it is in power, indulges in loot, and while out of power, it divides on the basis of language, region and caste. Loot aur phoot Congress ke oxygen hain (corruption and politics of division are the life blood of the Congress). However, people know the truth about the Congress and will never let it succeed in its motives,” he said.

The PM said he was not in Jhabua to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections but as a “sevak” to thank the people for their overwhelming support in the recent Assembly elections.

The BJP recently won the Assembly polls in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh with a thumping majority.
