Srinagar, July 25
In a significant move aimed at improving road conditions and giving relief to the public, Lt-Governor GC Murmu announced the launch of a “macadamisation programme” for roads across J&K.
The announcement comes in the backdrop of grievances relating to the poor condition of roads and related problems presented before the Lt-Governor during his tours as part of his outreach programme, an official spokesman said.
Following a detailed discussion with his Advisers, the Lt-Governor approved a programme for 100 per cent macadamisation of all roads in J&K, including 11,000 km of the fair-weather roads.
A committee has been constituted, which will prepare a roadmap and a financing plan for ensuring 100 per cent macadamisation of all roads in J&K, the spokesman said.
