Ludhiana: The anti-smuggling cell of the city police seized 2.5 lakh litres of lahan during raids conducted at villages near the Sutlej river. Yashpal Sharma, in charge of the cell, said acting on information, raids were conducted at Nawa Rajapur and Khaira Bet villages and the lahan was seized.Fifteen bottles of countrymade liquor, 13 drums and some equipment were also seized from the spot. The accused, who had concealed, lahan were identified as Surjit Singh of Khaira Bet, Jagir Singh and Gurnam Singh of Bholewal Jadid. Some unknown persons of Bilga village were booked in this regard. Later under the supervision of excise officials, lahan was destroyed by the police. The police added that raids were being conducted to nab the accused smugglers booked in the case.
