City skater Chashmeet Singh Sehgal grabbed two medals in the 64th National School Games held at Belgaum in Karnataka, recently.

Chashmeet, a student of Class XI at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, was selected to compete in the Under-17 group in these games organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) from December 27 to 29, in which around 950 participants from 27 states vied for top honours.

He justified his selection by clinching two medals, including one gold medal.

In the 500-metre rink race, Chashmeet proved his supremacy by securing a gold medal. He went on to add another medal in his kitty by winning a silver medal in the 1,000-metre rink race event.

Chashmeet gave a stupendous performance in the Punjab State School Games held at Amritsar from December 6 to 9, wherein, he stole limelight by bagging three gold medals (500-m, 1,000-m rink races and 3-km road race).

On the basis of this performance, Chashmeet was selected to represent Punjab in the nationals and he did not disappoint the selectors.

Besides, Chashmeet cornered glory in the Open Punjab State Roller Skating Championship held again in Amritsar, in which he annexed four medals (a gold in 1,000-m rink race, silver medals in 15-km elimination race, 10-km point to point race and one lap event).

Chashmeet gets training from coaches JS Dhaliwal and Naginder Nagi at the Leisure Valley skating rink to prepare himself for the selection trials slated to be held during the mid of this year for the national and international competitions.
