A police head constable, Vijay Kumar, was injured when a speeding truck hit his motorcycle from behind near Sabzi Mandi on GT Road while he was going to join his new posting from Meharban to the police post at Kanganwal. He was rushed to the CMCH by an ambulance.

The police have booked the unknown truck driver under sections 279/337/338/427, IPC.

In another hit-and-run accident near the Bhaini Sahib diversion on Ludhiana-Chandigarh Road, a car hit Santa Singh (23) on Wednesday morning while he was going with his father Sarwan Singh on foot to Gurdwara Katana Sahib. The complainant, Sarwan Singh, said the driver had also rammed his vehicle into an SUV (Bolero). Santa sustained grievous injuries in the accident and was admitted to the hospital.

The police have traced the ownership of the car to Manjot Singh, a resident of Bhamma Khurd village, who has been booked under sections 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC.
