Matches in the league phase were played and eight teams, two top teams from four groups, qualified for the quarterfinals on the fourth day of the 3rd JITO Premier Cricket League being played at the SCD Government College ground here today.

Redhill Rippers XI and Bhomia Sunrisers XI, along with Techno Finishers XI, Taplis Riders JPL XI, Chaman Super Kings XI, RR Super Kings XI, Vijay Vallabh Swaggers JPL XI and Glory Champions XI qualified from the last eight stage.

On Wednesday, in their last league match, Vijay Vallabh Swaggers JPL XI outplayed Jagriti Risers XI by 44 runs to book a berth in the quarterfinals. Batting first, Vijay Vallabh Swaggers JPL XI posted a total of 148 runs after losing three wickets. The main contributors were Kashish Jain and Archit Jain won made 63 and 54 runs, respectively.

Chasing the target, Jagriti Risers XI were 104 for 8 as they fell short of overs and made an exit from the title hunt. Bhavik Jain (21), Gautam Jain (19), Amit Jain (19) and Gaurav Jain (15) played well but that was not enough to achieve the target.

For the winning side, Gaurav Jain and Kashish Jain took two wickets each while Rahul Sethia, Harshit Jain and Apoorav Jain claimed apiece each.

In the second match, RR Super Kings XI beat D Jain Crease Masters XI in super over as the two sides were tied at 105 runs after 10 overs.

The match played between Glory Champions JPL XI and Vallabh Royals XI turned out to be a mismatch as the former romped home triumphant easily by nine wickets. Vallabh Royals XI were restricted to a small score of 68 runs which the Glory Champions JPL XI surpassed in just 5.2 overs after losing only one wicket. In another match, Team Duke XI defeated Sudarshan Tigers XI by seven wickets. In replay to Sudarshan Tigers XI’s total of 93 for 8, Team Duke scored 95 runs for the loss of three wickets with three balls to go.

The quarterfinals will be played on February 22 while the two semifinals and the final will be held on February 23.
