New Delhi, October 23
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually sounded the bugle for the next year’s Goa Assembly elections and expressed the need for the continuation of a “double engine” government to realise the vision of making Goa self-sufficient.
Interacting with the beneficiaries and stakeholders of the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa programme” via video-conferencing, he exhorted the bureaucracy to be sensitive and innovative.
The PM said it was not just a programme of five months or five years, but it is the first phase of the vision for the next 25 years.
“Each one from Goa will have to contribute to achieving this goal,” he added.
He hailed Goa as a model state of governance and noted its achievements in implementation of major schemes such as ODF, electricity, piped water and ration to poor. He lauded Goa for achieving the open defecation free status and 100 per cent target of providing electricity connection to every household and Har Ghar Jal Abhiyan. — TNS
