Girl accuses youth of rape bid

Amritsar: A 19-year-old girl has accused a youth of rape attempt. The police have registered a case against the suspect, identified as Gursharnpreet Singh of Gill village. The girl in her complaint to the Jandiala police alleged that on Monday she was alone at home when the suspect entered the house and made unwelcome advancements and tried to rape her. She said when she raised the alarm, the accused fled away. The police said a case under Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC had been registered against the suspect while raids were on to nab him. The matter was handed over to Sub-Inspector Mandeep Kaur for further probe. TNS
