Amritsar, June 22
Members of a local social organisation demanded from CM Bhagwant Mann to pass a resolution in the upcoming Assembly session against the Centre’s move to take control of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Tarksheel Society, in its meeting, demanded a resolution against the National Education Policy-2020. Society members Jaspal Basarke, Sumit Singh and Ashwani Kumar said the Centre was pursing its fascist and capitalistic agenda and trying for centralisation of powers.
The society also announced that it would support all protests against the Centre’s move to take control of PU. The members of the society reasoned that granting Central University status to PU would jeopardise the future of students of about 200 affiliated colleges of Punjab. They said the Centre’s step was against the interests of Punjab.
