Two booked for rape

TARN TARAN: Two persons have been booked under Sections 376-D, 452, 506 and 434 of the IPC by the police for allegedly raping a widow.

Two persons have been booked under Sections 376-D, 452, 506 and 434 of the IPC by the police for allegedly raping a widow.

The police said the accused had been identified as Surjit Singh and Kamaljit Singh. The incident happened on August 19 while the case was registered yesterday.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim, the suspects met her at a local court on July 30 where she had gone for the hearing of her case. The suspects were also there in the court for hearing of a pending case. The victim who was waiting for the bus outside the court complex was offered a lift by them. She served them tea after they dropped her at home.

She alleged that on August 19, the accused entered her house by jumping over the wall and raped her. They left her house when she raised an alarm. SI Baljit Kaur recorded the statement of the victim. A probe has been initiated in this regard.
