Members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), Punjab, began an indefinite dharna in front of the office of the SSP here on Monday to protest the deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
Women workers of the organisation also participated in the dharna.
Satnam Singh Pannu, state president of the KMSC and other leaders, condemned the interference by ruling party leaders, especially the MLA. He alleged that anti-social elements on the back of their political bosses were committing crimes like looting, snatching, killings, which had even made the police helpless to act against these persons.
Pannu said the KMSC in its memorandum submitted to the administration had demanded early resolution of the pending 19 issues. He warned the administration of resolving the issues at the earliest otherwise the agitating farmers and mazdoors would block the national highway from December 19.
