The festival of Lohri on Wednesday was celebrated at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College for Women (STBCW) with a lot of exuberance and fanfare. The mood on the campus was upbeat and students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri.

Principal Nanak Singh on the occasion highlighted the significance of Lohri festival. He added that people residing in Punjab attach a great significance to Lohri—the festival of feasts and foods and this harvest festival is celebrated to mark both celebration and sharing. Students and teachers took rounds of the holy fire and sang songs immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. A kite-flying competition was also organised on the occasion.

The programmes to mark the 352nd Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th and last Sikh Guru and founder of Khalsa Panth, was also celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion at the college campus. Nanak Singh gave a detailed account of the life and teachings of the Guru who stood for national integration, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony and gave the message to the youth to follow the philosophy of the Guru. He also informed the students about the year round programmes to be organised by the management to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
