Odisha requires 257 runs to save an innings defeat on the second day of the four-day match between Punjab and Odisha in the under-19 Cooch Behar cricket tournament played here today.
Chasing modest score of 155 runs, the home team declared their first innings at 452/9 in 100 overs.
Openers Jagmeet Singh and Arjun Verma laid a good foundation for Punjab with their patient 154 runs partnership. Jagmeet missed his century with a whisker as he was bowled out by Pritam Jena at 98 runs and Arjun scored a patient 87 runs.
Nehal Wadhera (65), Prabhsimran Sing (33), Deepin Chitkara (66) and Rohit Kumar (22) also contributed in batting. When the team was declared Jaish Jain was playing at 59 runs and Mandeep Singh at one.
At the draw of stumps, Odisha were playing at 40/2 in the second innings. Swastik Samal and Kunal Mallick lost their wickets cheaply at 8 and 7 runs respectively.
Manas Ranjan Nayak and Pritam Jena were playing at 15 and five runs, respectively.
