BATHINDA: The two-day national-level conference on “Empowering the Duty Medical Officer in the Management of Common Emergencies” was inaugurated by Lieut-Gen Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Sapta Shakti Command, on Friday.

The two-day national-level conference on “Empowering the Duty Medical Officer in the Management of Common Emergencies” was inaugurated by Lieut-Gen Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Sapta Shakti Command, on Friday.

Addressing a gathering, the General Officer laid emphasis on the importance and need of training of Junior Medical Officers to handle emergencies, especially in field conditions to enable them to save lives. Lieutenant General PC Thimmaya, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps, who was also present, exhorted the participants to derive maximum benefit from such academic exchanges and improve their professional expertise.

Several senior professors and consultants from Armed Forces Medical Services and civil medical institutes of repute, engaged the audience by delivering enlightening lectures on management of critical illnesses like cerebrovascular accident (paralysis), heart attack, epilepsy, chest and abdominal injuries.

The conference has been a truly learning experience for everyone and recognised by the Punjab Medical Council by accredition of six hours of Continuous Medical Education credit points.
