Mansa, July 15
Conceding the long-standing demand of the Punjab pharmacists, the state Health Department has allotted the designation of chief pharmacy officer to the grade-I chief pharmacists working in civil hospitals of the state.
However, the grade-I chief pharmacists working in the civil surgeons’ offices in Punjab would now be called district pharmacy officers.
This was stated by Narinder Mohan Sharma, state president of the pharmacists’ association, here on Monday. He said that the chief pharmacists grade-II would be renamed as senior pharmacy officers while all the pharmacists in the state would now be called pharmacy officers.
The association’s general secretary Ravinder Luthra said a decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu and Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Satish Chandra after holding a meeting with the office-bearers of the association. Shishan Kumar, joint secretary of the association, said the state health minister had promised to accept other pending demands of the pharmacists. — TNS
