CBSE CLUSTER-18 inter-school volleyball tournament for girls was organised at MAS Convent School, Jeonwala, Faridkot. Schools from different parts of the state took part in the three-day tournament. Combridge International School, Jalandhar, stood first, GMA City Public School, Hoshiarpur, second and Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Kapurthala, clinched the third spot in the U-19 category.
Among U-17 teams, Army Public School (Jammu and Kashmir), MAS Convent School (Jeonwala) and GMA City Public School (Hoshiarpur) bagged the first, second and third ranks, respectively.
The tournament was organised with cooperation of SS Brar of MAS Convent School Jeonwala, Principal TK Brar, CBSE observer Vipan Kumar and Parveen Kumar, technical delegates of the CBSE. The tournament was coordinated by Balwinder Gill and sports in charge of the school, Chamkaur Singh.
During prize distribution ceremony, SS Brar highlighted the importance of sports in the development of a person. He urged the CBSE and schoolteachers to give more weightage to physical education and sports while assessing students.
Parvinder Singh, an international level volleyball player from Government Senior Secondary School, Wander Jatana; Gurbaj Singh, a national level player from Government Senior Secondary School, Machaki Mal Singh; Angrej Singh, another national level player from Dolphin Public School, Wara Daraka; and Amarjeet Singh, a national player; helped organise the tournament.
