Stock Holding Corporation of India gave 277 bicycles to the Panjab University (PU), under its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
In all, 91 cycles were distributed among various departments of Panjab University in the presence of Registrar Prof Karamjeet Singh, Controller of Examination Dr Parminder Singh, Finance and Development Officer Vikram Nayyar, Secretary to Vice-Chancellor Dr Munishwar Joshi and other PU officials.
Prof Karamjeet Singh said to promote eco-friendly environment on the campus, the bicycles would be given to all departments of the university. Two each will be given to the VC Office and the DUI office, five to the chief of the university’s security office, seven each to all hostels and one each to the departments. Ten bicycles have been reserved for need-based use in the campus. He said the remaining cycles would be distributed soon.
