A 42-year-old beldar working with the local Municipal Corporation allegedly committed suicide by taking poison. The victim left a suicide note, blaming MC Junior Engineer Dalip Singh for his suicide. The police have registered a case against the JE.
Sources said the victim, identified as Rajinder Kumar Yadav, took poison at his house in Sector 38 (West) on the night of October 23. The victim was posted at the waterworks in Sector 37.
He was hospitalised at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, after his family came to know about the incident.
The police said the victim’s condition deteriorated after which he was shifted to the PGI, where he died this morning.
The sources said the victim's son, Vishal, had on Tuesday given a statement to the police that his father took some liquid by mistake following which he suffered food poisoning. However, after the victim’s death, his kin found a suicide note. In the suicide note, the victim blamed the JE for the extreme step. The suicide note stated that the JE was mentally harassing him and he was also thrashed by the JE a few days ago. A case has been registered against the JE.“Raids are being conducted to nab the accused,” said a police official.
Suicide note to be sent to CFSL
The police will send the suicide note to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) to verify the handwriting of the victim.
