PO in three cases held after 6 yrs
Chandigarh: A 36-year-old Haryana resident who was declared was a proclaimed offender in three cases, for the past six years, has been arrested by the PO and Summon Cell of the UT police. The police said the accused, identified as Satish Kumar, alias Bagdi, a naive of Bhiwani district, had three cases, including two of theft, registered against him in Chandigarh during 2011 at Sector 39, Mani Majra and Sector 19 police stations. In one of the cases, he was declared a PO in August 2013, while in the remaining two cases he was declared a PO in January 2014. He was nabbed from Rajasthan. TNS
Man arrested for smuggling arms
Ambala: The police have arrested Harjit Singh, alias Gunga, of Jathlana village in Yamunanagar for running an arms smuggling trade. According to the police, Vicky of Ambala City, an accomplice of the suspect, was arrested with a 7.65-mm country-made pistol and four live cartridges during the checking of suspicious elements in Ambala Cantonment on the night of January 3 and 4. During interrogation, he revealed that he had procured the illegal arm and ammunition from Harjit. The arms supplier was sent to one-day police custody. TNS
Two arrested for murder bid
Ambala: The police have arrested two persons – Aman, alias Bond, and Abhishek of Ambala Cantonment – in an attempt-to-murder case, officials said here on Tuesday. On August 8, Vinod Kumar of Ambala Cantonment had told the police that the suspects had fired gun shots at his house following which window panes suffered damage. A court sent the suspects to 14-day judicial custody. TNS
Three held in assault cases
Ambala: The police have arrested three persons in separate assault cases registered against them, officials said here on Tuesday. According to the police, Rohan Anand, alias Nonu, of Ambala City was arrested for assaulting and threatening Sanjeev Kumar and his son of Ambala City with dire consequences on August 6, following which the father-son duo sustained injuries. In a separate case, Ramji of Satpura in Bihar was arrested for assaulting a resident of Jarot village in Lalru (Mohali) with a spade at Panjokhra Sahib near here on August 11. Similarly, Malkit Singh, alias Ridhu, of Barara was arrested for assaulting Sandeep Kumar of Barara on August 2. The suspects were sent to 14-day judicial custody. TNS
Two persons go missing in Ambala
Ambala: Two persons have reportedly gone missing from their respective houses, the police said here on Tuesday. Vijay Kumar (50) of Naggal had been reportedly missing from his home since July 19. Kamal Jinder (38) of Ambala City left his home on August 12 but did not return yet. The police have lodged missing reports. TNS
Two nabbed with stolen goods
Kharar: The police have recovered stolen goods from possesion of two men. The suspects have been identified as Abhishek Kumar and Hanspreet. Investigating Officer ASI Harjit Singh said the police got a tip-off that the suspects along with their two friends were moving on Randhawa road. The police recovered an Activa, a fridge and two inverter batteries, among others. The duo was produced before a local court which remanded them to one-day police custody. OC

Kharar: The CIA staff have recovered 210 injections from a person. The suspect has been identified as Munish Kumar, a resident of Machali Kalan. Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Kumar said the policemen were on patrolling when the suspect who was coming on a motorcycle from Chadiala Soodan village tried to escape. During his inspection 210 intoxicant injections were recovered. OC
