Probe ordered into ‘mismatch’ of minor girl’s ultrasound reports

The authorities have marked an inquiry into discrepancies in two ultrasound reports of a 14-year-old girl. One of the reports stated that the girl was pregnant, while the other revealed that she had a cyst in her stomach.

On complaining of stomach ache, parents of the minor girl, a resident of Nayagaon, took her to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, for medical check-up. However, her ultrasound conducted at the hospital revealed that the girl was pregnant. Then the girl told her parents that she was gang-raped by two persons on March 20 when she was returning home after appearing for an exam. On her complaint, the police registered a case of gang rape against unknown persons.

However, when the police again took the girl for medical examination at the GMSH-16 the next day, her ultrasound report revealed the girl had a cyst in her stomach and that is why she was having pain in her stomach.

Dr VK Nagpal, Medical Superintendent, Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, here, said the Head of the Gynaecology Department had been asked to conduct a probe into the discrepancies in two ultrasound reports and submit the report by Monday.
