Sprayer to cut pesticide use set to hit market

CHANDIGARH: Excessive use of pesticides being a major cause of concern, an improved gadget that cuts down on the dispensation of harmful chemicals is being introduced in the market.

Chandigarh, May 18

Excessive use of pesticides being a major cause of concern, an improved gadget that cuts down on the dispensation of harmful chemicals is being introduced in the market.

Two years ago, the CSIO had transferred the ‘Advanced spraying technology: Air-sssisted electrostatic sprayer’ to Dashmesh Industries, Alwar, Rajasthan. The firm has signed another MoU with the CSIO today to further improve the electrostatic sprayer by incorporating usage meter and making it GPS-enabled.

The MoU was signed by Dr Surender Saini, Head, Business Initiatives and Project Planning, on behalf of the CSIO and Ramandeep Singh and Amandeep Singh, co-founders, Dashmesh Industries. Electrostatic spraying reduces the pesticide use significantly with higher efficiency and bio-efficacy.

Dr Manoj K Patel, the developer of the technology, said there was a pressing need of new chemical application sprayer for small-scale farms. For this, an indigenously, low-cost electrostatic spraying system was designed and developed. — TNS
