CHANDIGARH:Top seed Dhruv Rawat of Uttarakhand humbled 12th seed Pranay R of Andhra Pradesh 21-17 21-19 to enter the boys’ U-17 quarterfinals at the 26th Krishna Khaitan Memorial All-India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament here today.

Top seed Dhruv Rawat of Uttarakhand humbled 12th seed Pranay R of  Andhra Pradesh 21-17 21-19 to enter the boys’ U-17 quarterfinals at the 26th Krishna Khaitan Memorial All-India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament here today.

Third seed Amit Rathore of Madhya Pradesh tamed Rajasthan’s Shubham Patel 21-17 30-28, while eighth seed Bidyasagar Salam of Manipur ousted Uttar Pradesh’s Rajan Yadav 21-15 21-18 in the pre-quarterfinals.

Jaswanth motors on 

In the boys’ U-19, top seed Jaswanth D of Andhra Pradesh registered a 21-17 21-12 win over Haryana’s Mohit Goury to ensure a place in the pre-quarters.

Anant Shivam Jindal of Haryana upset 14th seed Iman Sonowal of Assam 21-17 21-17, while 13th seed Lalit Dahiya of Haryana got the better of Bihar’s Akash Thakur 21-10 24-22.

Another Haryana shuttler and third seed Abhishek Saini overwhelmed Sai Charan Koya 21-12 21-7 to book a place in the quarterfinals. 

Sixth seed Aman Farogh Sanjay of Maharashtra won his pre-quarterfinal match against Manipur’s Bidyasagar Salam 21-18 21-18. 

Purva beats Kriti

Top seed Purva Barve of Maharashtra, meanwhile, edged out Karnataka’s Kriti Bharadwaj 21-15 21-9 to seal a spot in the girls’ U-19 pre-quarterfinals. 

Telangana’s Bhargavi K stunned second seed Amolika Singh of UP 21-18 17-21 22-20 in pre-quarterfinals, while third Unnati Bisht of Uttarakhand received a walkover against Maharashtra’s Janhavi Kanitkar.

Garima Singh of Chandigarh rallied from a game down to suprise ninth seed Namita Pathania of Delhi. 

Garima lost the opening game 17-21, but fought her way back into the match with a 22-20 win in the second game. She then ousted Namita 21-13 in the decider to stay alive in the championship.

Edwin-Aravind win 

In the boys’ U-17 doubles, top seeds Edwin Joy and Aravind V Suresh registered a 20-22 21-13 21-11 win over A Doddavarapu and C Kelavathu to make it to the last-16 stage of the championship.

B Karamchandani and A Kushwaha defeated Ganesh Sai Gundeti and Varshath Reddy Kanapuram21-16 21-10, while Aditya Chouhan and Amit Rathore got the better of Mohit Jaglan and Twinkle Kumar 21-18 19-21 22-20. I Bhatnagar and P Rajawat humbled T Mallineni and VV 21-8 21-11to move into the quarterfinals.

Fourth seeds Kush Chugh and Varun Trikha of Haryana had an easy out ing against K Ayyagari Phani and A Fallary, winning the pre-quarterfinal tie  21-14 21-13.

Sahithi-Varshini move ahead

Top seed pair of Sahithi Bandi and Varshini VS made a light work of Dhriti Patel and Samiaa Shah to book a place in the girls’ U-17 doubles pre-quarterfinals. The duo won 21-3 21-10.

Kriti Bharadwaj and Tanya Hemanth overcame sixth seeds Deepshikha Singh and Likhita Srivastava 21-10 15-21 21-14, while Aditi Bhatt and Sneha Rajwar tamed Srivedya Gurazada and Sai Shriya Yanamandra 21-10 21-13. Fourth seed pair of Janhavi Jagtap and Arya Shetty dumped Simran Chaudhary and Kakuli Jha 21-15 21-8.
