Students of the Institute of Educational Technology and Vocational Education, Panjab University, today protested against lack of guest faculty outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The students said that despite being self-financed courses, the department did not have any guest faculty or research scholars to take classes for optional subjects.
The session began a month ago but the department has failed to address the issue. The students, thus, held a protest and later met Dean of University Instruction Meenakshi Malhotra. They even submitted a memorandum in this regard. According to a protester, Ravi Kaindel, the DUI has told them that their demands were genuine and would be addressed by Monday.
ISA submits memorandum
Members of the India Student Association marched to the Vice-Chancellor’s office and submitted a memorandum listing various demands. These include opening of mess and canteen in Boy’s Hostel No. 4, Increase of hostel seats for boys in chemistry department, free e-rickshaw service for differently abled students and better maintenance of washroom at the student centre along with improved water supply.
