Youth gets 10-yr jail in NDPS case

CHANDIGARH: A local court awarded 10-year imprisonment to a 23-year-old youth in an NDPS case.

A local court awarded 10-year imprisonment to a 23-year-old youth in an NDPS case. Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Sector 18, was also fined Rs 1 lakh for being held with 30 banned injections. He was found guilty under Section 22 of the NDPS Act.

According to the FIR in the case, on July 21, 2017, around 5.20 pm, a person was seen coming from the forest area near the railway station where police were on patrolling duty. On seeing the police, the convict got conscious and changed his direction. The police got suspicious and chased him.

The police recovered a packet from him which contained 30 injections of which 15 were of buprenorphine omgesic and the other 15 were of pheniramine maleate. The convict could not produce a licence or permit for the drugs and was arrested by the police. A case under Section 22 of the NDPS Act was registered against him.
