The Delhi BJP on Monday took a step towards preparing the manifesto for the coming assembly elections by asking its former legislators, councillors and office-bearers to give suggestions on seat-specific promises, sources said.
General secretary Rekha Gupta interacted with the party leaders on the prominent issues which include regularisation of unauthorised colonies, return of e-rickshaws on roads and giving relief to consumers in water and power bills, the sources said.
"It was an informal interaction to gauge the area-specific demands of local leaders," said a former
legislator.
Some councillors also wanted the party leadership to stall the proposed hike in municipal taxes in the budgets of the three civic agencies ruled by the saffron party.
Sources said the BJP is toying with the idea of releasing manifestoes on each constituency.
"In some constituencies like Model Town, the party had released constituency-specific manifesto during the last elections. This experiment will be extended to other constituencies this time," said a BJP leader.
Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said the party is also likely to prepare a blueprint for revamping a number of government agencies.
Upadhyay said the party's manifesto will also talk about bench marking of hospitals and schools under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards, said Upadhyay.
In another development, Upadhyay wrote a letter to Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and sought the Central government's help in lowering the conversion charges for shops.
He said this will give relief to people who want to pay conversion charges for commercial use of private houses in the colonies which lack local commercial areas.
The BJP also held booth-level meetings for Keshavpuram and Chandni Chowk districts.
Parliamentarians Ramesh Bidhuri, Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, Meenakshi Lekhi, Mahesh Girri, Vijay Goel and other senior members of the party participated in the exercise.
