NEW DELHI: Employment Minister Gopal Rai today said thousands of posts are lying vacant in departments of the Delhi government which will be filled once authority related to service matters is given to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Employment Minister Gopal Rai today said thousands of posts are lying vacant in departments of the Delhi government which will be filled once authority related to service matters is given to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. The minister said over 13,000 youth will be recruited at the two-day job fair in which 76 private companies are participating this time.

The event organised by the Employment Department of the Delhi governement was inaugurated by Rai at the Thyagraj stadium. “There are thousands of posts vacant in different departments of the Delhi government, but the government is not able to fill them for not having powers in service matters,” said Rai.

If the government gets powers in service matters, the vacancies in various departments will be filled up expeditiously, the minister was quoted as saying in a statement. Of the 13,000 vacancies up for grab during the fair while around 11,000 are said to be for beginners 335 are reserved for women aspirants. Around 30,000 — 40,000 job seekers are expected to participate in the current edition — the fourth job fair with the first one held in December 2015.

Talking about the response to the initiative, Rai said representatives from different states are visiting the job fair to understand the modalities and its impact.
