Confusion and anxiety prevailed as students kept streaming in during the day at the SCD Government College to check the merit list for admission at the college, even though it was specified in the notices online and at the college that the final merit list would be available on the college website.

Hearing it on grapevine, scores of students and parents kept visiting the college. “I heard from some fellow students that the merit list will be displayed at the college, but after coming to the college I learnt that it will be displayed at 2 pm,” a student said.

Many students who had arrived at the college early kept hanging around till late afternoon to see the merit list. “I came early to the college. However, someone told me that the list would be displayed after 2 pm, so I am waiting here,” said Onkar Chand, who wants to get admission to BCom I.

Another student Gurbhej Singh said he was too anxious to seek admission to the college, so he wanted to see the merit list at the college instead seeing it online.

However, the final merit list and cut-off list was posted online only after 6 pm.

As online registration took place for the first time in the college this year, many students, who had filled incorrect or incomplete information, kept coming to the college today, even though the deadline for any such correction was till yesterday only. The college had allowed students to make corrections and complete the information for the past four days.

A college professor said the delay in announcing the final merit list and cut-off list was due to the corrections being made by students.

As per the college authorities, the cut-off for BCom-I was 106.22 per cent for general category, 89.33 per cent for SC/ST, 104.89 for BC. For BA-I, the cut off was 73.73 per cent for general category, 68.22 for SC/ST, 74.84 for BC.

For BBA-I, the cut off was 90.07 per cent for general category, 67.43 per cent for SC/ST, 90.53 per cent for BC. For BCA-I, the cut off was 82 per cent for general category, 75.33 for SC/ST and 87.20 for BC. Meanwhile, the cut-off for MCom-I general category was 76 per cent, SC/ST 65.22 per cent and 76 per cent for BC. For BA-I (Evening), it was 64.40 per cent for general category, 60 for SC/ST and 64 for BC.

The cut-off list for BSc-I will be announced on July 6.
