Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said as a few months were left for the Assembly elections, it was more important to understand the mischief of those who misguided the people on the basis of region and religion.

He was addressing a gathering at the 15th annual celebration function of the Sarvhit Kalyankari Sanstha at Sujanpur Tihra near here today.

Putting Congress workers in the election mode, he said people should get united for the welfare of the state. He said nothing would be achieved by infighting and if they stood united, no force could defeat the Congress. He exhorted people to cast their votes wisely and not to be influenced by miscreants.

Speaking on the ticket distribution to the youth in the coming election, he said preference would be given to winnability of candidate.

He said the government was committed to making AIIMS functional at Bilaspur soon. The state was adjudged as the Best Big State in the field of education and overall development.

The Chief Minister announced a playground in Gram Panchayat Chamiyana and assured them to consider all other demands placed by Rajender Rana, Vice-Chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority.

Earlier, the CM inaugurated newly constructed building of Thakur Jagdev Chand Memorial Government College, Sujanpur.

Later, he awarded people for their achievements and also congratulated all those who were awarded by the organisation.

Virbhadra Singh honoured Dr SP Singh Oberoi, managing trustee of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, Patiala, Dr DS Rana, chairman, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Lieutenant General BS Jaswal (retd.), Dr PS Jaswal, former VC of two National Law Universities, with Shan-e-Hind awards on behalf of the Sarvhit Kalyankaari Sanstha for their services and achievements.

Pratibha Singh, vice-chairman of the State Red Cross Society, and Vikramaditya Singh, president of the State Youth Congress, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Chairman, KCC Bank, Jagdish Sipahiya, MLA Sanjay Rattan and Chiarman of the Ex-Servicemen Corporation Col BC Lagwal (Retd) were also present.
