KANGRA: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to have one chapter on road safety in the syllabus of Industrial Training Institute students from the coming academic session.

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to have one chapter on road safety in the syllabus of Industrial Training Institute students from the coming academic session. Technical Education Minister GS Bali made this announcement while speaking on the closing function of the 22nd Himachal Pradesh inter-polytechnic sports meet for boys at the local polytechnic today. Bali said that road accidents were claiming a lot of lives in this hill state so there was need to create awareness among the students about the road safety.

Bali announced that in Sundernagar Polytechnic in-service technical persons of the IPH, the HPSEB, Health Department and other technical departments would be imparted training for six months in the latest technical advancements.

He announced that a girls hostel would be constructed at Rohru Polytechnic, while Rs 1.75 crores would be spent on completing the administrative block at local Polytechnic here.

Early in the day, Polytechnic Hamirpur won the final in kabaddi defeating Baniket with 35:34 in a neck-and-neck fight. Baniket won the basketball final defeating Hamirpur by 46: 22. In volleyball, Rohru defeated Hamirpur in finals by 3:0. In badminton Hamirpur defeated Sundernagar by 2:1. In table tennis Ambota defeated Udaipur (Lahual Sipiti) by 3:1.

Bali distributed the prizes among the winners. He also announced a two-day holiday for the students after Dewali in the technical institutes in the state.
