Chandigarh, October 14

A fine performance by off-spinner Arshnoor Singh (6/34) helped Chandigarh bowl out Amritsar for 100 runs on the opening day of the Inter-District U-14 Cricket Championship. After electing to bat first, Amritsar failed to build partnerships and were bundled out in 57.3 overs. Opener Sumit Pal Singh (44) was the lone fighter. Sandeep Nishad (7) went early after he was bowled by Jaskirat. Thereafter, Arshnoor came into action and claimed Dhruv Verma (4) and Karan Mahajan (0). Arshdeep Singh was run out. Arshnoor’s double strike then spelt more trouble as he claimed Shivraj Singh (16) and Manroop Singh (1) in one over. Rohan Arora (12) helped Sumit stable the innings but he was cleaned up by Harnoor. Arshnoor claimed Madhur Dhawan (0) and Prince Rai (5) and Kabir Kalsi dismissing Sumit. In reply, Chandigarh reached 133/1 at the end of the day.
