Shravan Giri, newly nominated member of the Haridwar Roorkee Development Authority, took charge at the HRDA office, Mayapur, today.
HRDA secretary Arvind Kumar Pandey handed over the appointment letter and charge to Giri, who is a noted social activist and Congress party member.
After assuming the charge, Giri paid obeisance at the sanctum-sanctorum of Brahma Kund, Har-ki-Pauri, and offered rituals to the Ganga. He thanked Chief Minister Harish Rawat for nominating him as the HRDA member and said he would try to bring more transparency and time-bound completion of procedures and files.
“I feel honoured to be nominated at the post which is directly related to the people of Haridwar and Roorkee. Will try to ensure better planning and time-bound execution of development works,” Giri said.
Religion, Culture Commission chairperson Swami Brahamswarup Brahmachari said people had high hopes from Giri because of his social image and honest working style.
Dr Sanjay Paliwal said the HRDA would be benefitted from the vision and experience of Shravan Giri.
Former legislator Ambrish Kumar said the vision with which HRDA was formed needed to be adhered to.
Former municipal chairpersons Satpal Brahamchari, Pradeep Chaudhari, Mahanagar Congress president Anshul Shrikunj, city trader president Shiv Kumar Kashyap, Lakhan Lal Chauhan, Ward councillor Uma Gujral, Sudhir Giri, Khusi Ram Raturu, Gulshan Nayyar, Ved Prakash, Madhu Sudan Aggarwal, Ram Chandra, Suresh Sharma among other party workers wished Giri.
