Jailed in rape case, sarpanch suspended

Kisanpura village sarpanch Subhash Kumar was suspended as he has been lodged in jail since October 2018 in a rape case.

Gagandeep Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO), said the sarpanch was sent a show-cause notice, but nobody received it as he was in jail. “Development works were suffering in Kisanpura in the absence of the sarpanch. Therefore, he was suspended and asked to hand over the charge to a panch,” said the DDPO. — TNS
